Training & Education
Knowledge is power. We offer free training sessions to individuals, families, and organizations, educating them about addiction, overdose prevention, and how to administer Narcan. Together, we can reduce the stigma around addiction and create a well-informed, supportive community.
Enhancing the ACE Foundation of Florida’s training initiatives on addiction, overdose prevention, and Narcan administration, it’s beneficial to incorporate strategies from successful organizations:
- Interactive and Customized Training: Emulate the National Harm Reduction Coalition’s approach by offering dynamic, interactive sessions customized to the specific needs of the community or organization. This ensures the training is relevant and engaging, covering various topics from overdose prevention to drug-related stigma.
- Train-the-Trainer Programs: Implement Train-the-Trainer programs similar to Overdose Lifeline. Equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to educate others in their communities, thereby creating a multiplying effect. This approach is particularly useful for sustainable, ongoing education.
- Comprehensive Topic Range: Offer a diverse range of topics in training, akin to Overdose Lifeline’s programs. Cover the basics of addiction and harm reduction, as well as specific subjects like Medication-Assisted Treatment and the role of ACEs in Substance Use Disorder.
- Accessibility and Flexibility: Provide both online and in-person training options to make programs more accessible. Offer online self-paced courses, virtual and in-person training, and continuing education credits, allowing individuals from different backgrounds and with varying schedules to participate.
- Community Engagement and Advocacy: Emphasize community engagement and advocacy in training programs, encouraging community involvement and raising awareness about addiction and overdose prevention.
